The Power of Non-Consistency & Consistancy

Jun 18, 2025

I just read a Substack article on the power of non-consistency for women, and how forced consistency doesn't work well with our cyclical bodies. Which I agree with. A similar wisdom is offered by Human Design, where I'm taught, as an emotional generator that commitments are quite challenging for me, and should be avoided, if possible.

After the relaunch of the website June 7, I decided, somewhat foolishly, to restart the delivery of these blog posts five days a week. The starting happened to take place at a really deep retreat last week. And yes, my retreat and my health suffered a bit because I stayed up quite late to complete my daily committed piece of writing.

But here's the thing. I also believe that, at least I, need to be challenged, and that writing doesn't improve without daily, or very frequent, writing. And that sometimes we need the support of a commitment in order to create new practices and rituals. But maybe the whole point is to write more, being consistent, through a pleasure-filled sensual ritual? That if I made sure that my writing each week-day was a truly sacred practice that I would make time for it to be fun and playful?

I don't know. The jury is still out on what serves me, my body - and the world - the most. And I certainly don't know what's best for you and your practice. This week it's Midsummer Celebration in Sweden, and I'm not clear on how much I'll be able to write for the rest of this week. Which feels totally fine. And maybe I won't write a blog post every weekday moving forward. But I also feel the call to keep exploring - with as much pleasure as I can bring.

What is true for you? And how pleasure-filled do you want your consistency to be, if you indeed want consistency?
